I want to breed and sell bunnys again this year.
How old do my bunnys have to be to breed?
I have some that were born early last september, are they old enough?
By the way, Yahoo wanted to categorize this as Home & Garden > Garden & Landscape.

  1. Oh yeah, they are old enough. Just do some research on breeding bunnies. You may have to hold the female and the male will not what to do. The funny thing is that when the male is done, he grunts and falls over on his side but he’s perfectly fine. It’s just funny! Here’s some stuff to read about breeding bunnies and how to make a nest box (that’s crucial). GOOD LUCK! http://www.debmark.com/rabbits/breeding.… (the basics)http://www.ehow.com/how_7509_breed-rabbi…http://www.howtodothings.com/pets-and-an…http://www.welshrabbitry.com/becomearabb…http://www.thenaturetrail.com/Breeding-H… (my bunny breed)http://www.ehow.com/how_4533722_build-ne… (IMPORTANT to read!)http://www.thenaturetrail.com/BuildingNe… (this shows you the best way to make a nest box!).
My best advice would to be to go to an ARBA rabbit show and talk to sme rabbit breeders in your area and get some advice! Who knows, maybe you may want to show them (it’s fun!). Here’s the ARBA website.http://www.arba.net/Shows.php
There is a phone # to call and talk to someone at the ARBA office who can help you find a nearby show. You’ll be amazed at all the shows out there and what a serious hobby it’s become! What kind of rabbits do you have? If you are a teen or younger, have you looked into 4-H, that’s a terrific place to learn about bunnies and they have a fair that you can win MONEY at not just ribbons and trophies! They even have categories for mom and babies! Here’s the national 4-H website that should be able to find one in your area!http://4-h.org/
    GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

  2. Beth bunny lover says:

Most breeds mature at about 6-8 months. That being said, some rabbits can reproduce as early as 4 months, which is why you have to separate the different sexes by 12 weeks.
I usually suggest breeding rabbits for the first time around 6 months. If you don’t get the does started early enough, they can have kindling complications.

  3. If they were born last September, I would wait until September to breed. That said, you aren’t planning to breed rabbits from the same parents are you? That would be very bad, potentially disastrous.

  4. Those rabbits have been old enough to breed. I bred them when they were 2 monthes. you just have kept them from doing the nasty

  5. Surprisingly it only takes a year!
One of the earliest reproducing animals.

  6. 6-8 months is good.
