I have never been to it, so I was wondering what will be occuring this year. I heard there were famous singers in the past, so do you know if any great performers will perform this year, 2008? I read that there will be delicious food, soccer matches, and salsa bands, but can I have any specifics? What else will be going on? And is it worth the trip? Thanks.

This year, Colombian Independence Day will be specially celebrated because of the release of the hostages. (Rebel group held, and continues to hold, hostages. Several key hostages were freed just a couple weeks ago) Colombians have wanted peace and to be rid of these rebel groups for many, many years. Don’t be surprised if you see people proudly waving flags, and celebrating loudly! Colombians are typically very proud of their heritage, and this year, this month, there is so much to be proud of. Go to the festival if you would like to experience a slice of Colombia – food, music, culture, heritage, and just so much more! You will NOT regret taking part of this historic event! Enjoy!
I hear it is one of those things that you have to do at least once in a lifetime. I have also been unable to find any details, but I am planning on going to the park this year. Does anyone have a good link to check out?
