I have a friend who is Filipino and he just turned 27 years old yesterday, yet he still lives at home with his parents. Although he does have a job working as a cook at The Olive Garden so it is not look like he is financially mooching off his parents.

  1. It’s actually quite common. Filipino adults who still live with their parents aren’t ‘mooching’ off of their parents. Usually, the case is that they’re there to take care of their parents. As with all older adults, as time passes, the more limitations they have, which includes their productivity at home. The son or daughter will then stay with the parents and support them because their parents are either too weak to support theirselves or are having difficulty.

im not too sure but what i know is that usually asian cultures they stick together and live near each other. i dont really see how it would be odd even if he is a cook. maybe they are just trying to save money.

  3. your friend is prolly just stayin with his parents so he doesn’t have to pay for rent…lol
Filos normally move out once they get a stable job or after they graduate from college….

  4. yes it is common, because the family works together, and times are real hard there
